Shell hors d'oeuvres jar

This seaside-themed aperitif jar, with its hors d'oeuvres skewers and seashells, is really easy to make. When you are out walking on the beach, collect some shells of different shapes. You can also save mussel shells, cockles, whelks etc. once you've eaten them.

How do you ripen an avocado?

There are two ways to ripen an avocado that is too hard: either put it inside a sheet of newspaper at room temperature or in a plastic bag with an apple. The pectin in the apple will actually ripen it in 2 days.
