Apple and Almond Crumble by Gary, Halesworth

Ingredients:

Filling:

• 450 gsm cooking apples (peeled and sliced)
• Juice of one lemon
• 50 gms granulated sugar

Crumble:

• 100 gms plain wholemeal flour
• 75 gms soft brown sugar
• 50 gms butter
• 50 gms ground almonds

Topping:

• 50 gms demerara sugar
• 50 gms chopped almonds

10 min

Cooking Time:

45 min

Method:

1. Place apple in pyrex dish. Pour lemon juice over apple and mix. Drain off excess juice.

2. Add granulated sugar.

3. Place crumble ingredients in food processor and zap until mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

4. Sprinkle crumble mix on top of apple. Press down lightly.

5. Mix together almonds and demerara sugar and sprinkle over top of crumble mix.

6. Place in preheated oven and cook at 160 C (Gas marrk 3) for 45 mins approx. Dot not cover.

7. Serve warm with custard.
